Forum on Health is a convergence of functionality and information otherwise dispersed over many websites, blogs and forums. The idea started out with a friend of mine who was one day diagnosed with an incurable disease and, in search for solutions, she tried to do all that this website does and more through forums, blogs and social networks. While the Internet has been a great enabler for her in the search beyond incurability, it did present numerous challenges that we are starting to address here.
A mission was born to create a platform that would allow patients, their friends, medical practitioners, and others to connect, interact, and exchange information and ideas that would empower them to make informed choices.
Hello, my name is Tom Stachura and I am a Software Professional with 20 years of industry experience including 14 years in the medical field. My friend's story, and many other ones I heard, inspired me to take on this mission. The goal is to build an organizational and technical infrastructure to help people with life changing medical conditions to improve their lives, support the research, and potentially lead the way to a cure. It is also our mission to promote and engage people in healthy life style choices to mitigate the risks or even prevent such diseases.
While doing this, I will apply the highest standards of ethics respecting the sensitivity of this area of people's lives. In fact, one of the core necessities for Forum on Health is to separate and protect everyone's sensitive data. The standards that are applicable to other areas including professional and entertainment Internet-based social networks have to be enhanced for a health-based system.
I will ensure that the integrity and objectivity of the services provided here are met and remain uncompromised. Any affiliations, sponsorships or investments related to Forum on Health will be explicitly disclosed, and established only in a fashion that does not compromise our principles.
